Medical School: The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, Class of 2012

Undergraduate College: Indiana University, Purdue University, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Hometown: Fort Wayne, Indiana

Podiatric Specialty: General Podiatry

Personal Info: Growing up in the midwest, I became very passionate about traveling and exploring the outside world. I am from a large Lebanese family with many relatives in the healthcare field and chose to follow in my sister's footsteps to become a podiatrist. I am a huge Colt's fan. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to movies, playing tennis, or just sitting outside by a nice fire at the lake.

Why this Program? Upon my many visits to Sisters of Charity Hospital, I was able to experience the interaction between the doctors and the residents. They showed great knowledge, dedication, and respect not only to their patients but their residents too. I found Sisters to have the trifecta that I was looking for in a program. It is well rounded in academics, surgical skills, and clinical assessment. Something I found unique to the program is the resident-run clinic and how well it prepares its residents for their future career.

Medical School: Des Moines University

Undergraduate College: McMaster University, Canada

Hometown: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

Podiatric Specialty: Surgery

Personal Info: I am the oldest of my siblings and was required to take the leadership role growing up. Naturally, I love participating in new projects and initiatives. Every winter, I gather hats, scarves and mittens for those who are less fortunate. While at school, I was an officer in many clubs, including serving as president, secretary, liaison. I also served as a surgery teaching assistant and peer tutor. My family is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time with them on weekends.
When I find a moment, curling up with a good book or painting a beautiful watercolor are also favorite things to do!

Why this Program? Sisters of Charity Hospital was an easy choice for me. I visited in January when I feel like I had a good understanding of what I really wanted in a program. I wanted my future residency to provide me with what I felt like I needed to be successful later in life. I wanted a broad surgical exposure, not a program that boasts about their trauma numbers but cannot find a bunion case to save them.

I wanted an element of education, and I wanted to feel like the doctors and residents were excited to teach. At Sisters of Charity Hospital, I found all of these things and more. Education is big part of their program, and every Thursday DO and DPM residents convene to discuss medical cases or topics. In addition, there is journal club and trivias. I had a great experience with all the staff at Sisters and enjoyed their clinic and surgical experiences.
