Program Director's Message

Dr. Henri WoodmanWelcome to Catholic Health, a division of the University at Buffalo Internal Medicine Training Program, fully accredited by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education.

We are one of the major teaching institutions of the University at Buffalo, consisting of state-of-the-art facilities at Sisters of Charity Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, and four affiliated outpatient clinics.

Our residents enjoy the benefits of a friendly academic environment and the personal attention of a board-certified faculty who participate from day one in their educational pursuits. New residents are assigned a faculty advisor in the area of their career interests as well as a research advisor who promotes resident research activities with publication as a goal.

Academics are stressed throughout the clinical day beginning with a resident-driven morning report and didactic specialty noon conferences. Residents are encouraged to attend additional specialty conferences offered at our affiliated hospitals during elective modules.

We encourage presentations featuring our residents at the State and National level through direct program financial and academic support. Intensive care courses and procedural simulation are also offered to all residents. In addition, all PGY II residents participate in the ACP National meeting given each year, and the PGY III’s in a board review course of their choice.

For those residents wishing to continue their career in a particular subspecialty, we provide a fellowship information seminar and Program Director support during their application. I am pleased that all those who apply for fellowship are accepted.

I extend a warm welcome to you and am delighted you are considering our program for training where each resident is a meaningful member of our collegiate family. Please view our website and feel free to contact us with any questions.
