Referral Bonus

Catholic Health will pay referral awards to any individual outlined below who refers a friend, family member, or professional associate who is subsequently hired into Catholic Health facilities in an incentive-eligible position.

The referral must be hired into a full-time or benefitted part time position (minimum of 15 hours per week).

This policy applies to any eligible person referring a candidate to Catholic Health for a defined incentive-eligible position that is hired during the period of January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009.

Eligibility

1) Eligible are individuals who make referrals to Catholic Health, including but not limited to:

  • All Associates (Union and Non-union) and their Families
  • Physicians
  • Retirees
  • Vendors
  • Catholic Health Stakeholders
  • Applicants
  • Contract Workers

2) Catholic Health senior leadership, recruiters, and HR directors and above are excluded from receiving a referral bonus. In addition, a person referring a candidate cannot also be the hiring manager due to a conflict of interest.

3) Referrals may include associates that have terminated from a Catholic Health facility and have not worked at another Catholic Health facility within 180 days of termination. For the purpose of this category, "termination" will be defined as an associate who has voluntarily elected to terminate in good standing, and not employed in any capacity in any Catholic Health organization.

4) Referrals may NOT include transfers between organizations by voluntary bidding, layoff and recall rehires within a 180 day period from the date of termination, or any rehire if the individual terminated employment in 2007. Should an associate have a dual status employment relationship (works at two different sites concurrently), the 180 day rehire waiting period may be waived, upon investigation and determination by Human Resources.

5) Referrals may not be agency staff currently working in one of our facilities.

6) Should two or more individuals refer the same candidate for a position, the earliest date of receipt of submission on the referral forms will be the determining factor for payment of the bonus. If the dates of submission on multiple forms match, a discussion with the candidate will occur to determine the referring party. If no determination can be made, a draw will be performed by Human Resources to determine the recipient of the referral bonus.

7) All Referral Submission Forms must be received prior to the candidate’s start date. Human Resources will verify the referral by checking the referring person’s name on the application and contacting all parties involved if necessary.

8) Referral Submission Forms are to be submitted to the attention of Human Resources at any site for ALL eligible positions. All referrals will be centrally logged.

9) Approval of referral awards is the responsibility of the recruitment division.
