Corporate Compliance Program
Catholic Health has designed and implemented a corporate compliance program that gives each employee an opportunity to further the mission, vision and values that define our healing ministry.
Through corporate compliance we will better understand the ethical, professional and legal obligations we have as healthcare providers and the individual role we each play in meeting these important obligations.
Goals
The corporate compliance program is intended to:
- Promote justice and ethics in our business practices.
- Foster good corporate citizenship.
- Educate all employees and other associates regarding our standards and expectations.
- Provide tools for making responsible decisions and reporting concerns.
- Prevent, find and correct violations of Catholic Health standards and governmental laws and rules.
Guidelines
In keeping with the mission and goals of Catholic Health, directors, officers, managers, employees, medical staff, house staff, contractors, volunteers, students and other agents are expected to comply with the following guidelines:
- Deal openly and honestly with fellow employees, patients, residents, customers, contractors, vendors, government agencies and others.
- Maintain high standards of business and ethical conduct in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations including those governing fraud, waste and abuse.
- Practice good faith in transactions occurring during the course of business.
- Conduct business dealings with the best interest of the organization in view.
- Preserve patient confidentiality as conscientious healthcare professionals and within the definition of the law.
- Refuse offers, solicitations, and payments to induce referrals of the patients we serve.
- Disclose financial interests and/or affiliations with outside entities as required by the Conflict of Interest Statement.
- Hold vendors to these same Standards of Conduct as part of their dealings with the organization.
- Report instances of non-compliance through the three step process.
- Ensure compliance requirements regarding billing are monitored and enforced.
- Use supplies and services in a manner that avoids waste.
- Protect and retain records and documents as required by professional standards, governmental regulations and organizational policies.
- Exercise discretion in the billing of services, regardless of payor source.
Catholic Health corporate compliance ensures the integrity of Catholic Health and our continued success in providing medical excellence to our patients who have come to trust our long tradition of caring.
