Networking opportunities, improved community spirit, self-fulfillment, and even better health - these are just some of the benefits of being a hospital volunteer, according to the Corporation for National Community Service.

Sisters of Charity Hospital on Main Street in Buffalo, and its St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga have a number of volunteer opportunities available, including:

  • Pet Therapy - Sisters Hospital is looking for Licensed Therapy Dogs and their handlers to assist with a new pet therapy visitation program for patients and visitors at Sisters Hospital on Main Street.
  • Friendly Companion - The hospital is interviewing individuals interested in providing friendly visitation to patients in the hospital. Compassion, patience, and a friendly disposition are all that is required for this rewarding opportunity!
  • Surgical Waiting Room Attendant - The St. Joseph Campus of Sisters Hospital on Harlem Rd., Cheektowaga is currently seeking volunteers to assist in the newly opened state of the art surgical center waiting room. Volunteers are needed as early as 6:00 a.m., however, multiple shifts are available.

All hospital volunteers receive free parking, a $6 cafeteria voucher, and a uniform.
