Buffalo, New York has a strong and vibrant running community. Have you ever wanted to become a part of it? Checkers Athletic Club, a running organization with members throughout Western New York, has a program called Zero to 5K that is available to the public.

The Zero to 5K program's coach, Megan Nelson (also a full-time employee at Sisters Hospital) is beginning a new training program for the summer and fall track season.

Training Begins on July 15

The Zero to 5K Program will begin on July 15 at 7 p.m. at the University at Buffalo North Campus. Directions and information will be e-mailed to attendees.

This special 9-week session will culminate with the Scrub Run 5K, an event to benefit Mercy Hospital, on September 13.

How to Get Started

If you take part in this program, it is asked that you join Checkers A.C.

Memberships range from $25 (student), $35 (individual), and $50 (family).

For this fee, you receive the Zero to 5K 9-week training program, organized group runs and festivities throughout the year, and the availability of track practice throughout the summer/fall at UB.
