Mercy Hospital of Buffalo President & CEO C.J. Urlaub joined several other local community leaders at Lorraine Elementary School in South Buffalo this morning to participate in Read Across America Day.
Urlaub read the book "Jumanji" by Chris Van Allsburg to an attentive class of third grade students. Before leaving, he told the class about his job at the hospital and encouraged the children to read and work hard at school.
Each year, the National Educator Association (NEA) sponsors Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. All around the country, libraries, schools, and book shops host special events to encourage a life-long love of reading in our children.
This year’s Read Across America Day festivities at Lorraine Elementary School were led by Kate Blandin, special education teacher.
