Dr. John Bell-Thomson Honored with Prestigious “Hero of the Heart” Award at AHA Heart Ball

Dr. John Bell-Thomson accepts the Hero of  the Heart Award from Heart Ball Emcee &  local news anchor, Maryalice Demler.

Dr. John Bell-Thomson, chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mercy Hospital, was presented the Hero of the Heart Award at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) 32nd Annual Heart Ball held in June. 

Serving in Buffalo for over 20 years, he was honored for his significant contributions to the cardiovascular health and well-being of Western New Yorkers. His innovation and dedication has led him to be among a few surgeons nationwide who performs totally endoscopic cardiac bypass surgery robotically.

His latest work in minimally invasive heart surgery is helping patients benefit from shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries.
