More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. Unfortunately, the killer isn’t as easy to see. Heart disease is often silent, hidden and misunderstood (Cardiac Services).
In an effort to increase awareness, Catholic Health and the American Heart Association have announced that they are teaming up for Western New York Goes Red, part of the national Go Red For Women campaign.
During a news conference held on Wed., September 12 at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, a traveling survivor gallery of local women was unveiled and the Go Red Heart Match free online program was introduced. The American Heart Association’s Go Red Heart Match connects women so they can find support in the fight against this killer.

Go Red Heart Match is an online community to help motivate and encourage adherence to care after diagnosis – including cardiac rehabilitation. Studies show that cardiac rehabilitation/secondary prevention (CR/SP) plays a vital role in the recovery process by restoring individuals to their optimal physiological, psychosocial, nutritional and functional status.
