Catholic Health Sponsors Free Vascular Health Screening at Great Lakes Surgical Associates in Lockport
November 9, 2012
Simple, painless tests can detect life-threatening vascular disease
According to the American Vascular Association, vascular disease (vascular services) continues to be under-diagnosed in the United States, despite its potential for complications like stroke, loss of limbs or death. Millions of Americans suffer from some type of circulatory disease, like Carotid Artery Disease, Aortic Aneurysms, and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).
Early detection is the key to treating many vascular conditions, but often there are no warning signs until a serious medical complication occurs.
To help detect vascular disease and alert the public to its potential health risks, Catholic Health is sponsoring a FREE vascular health screening on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Great Lakes Surgical Associates located at 160 East Avenue in Lockport.
The free vascular health screening includes tests for:
- Carotid Artery Disease
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
- Blood Pressure
Each participant will also receive a complimentary consultation with a vascular surgeon to review their test results. Flu shots will also be available with no out-of-pocket costs for participants.
Other providers charge between $100-$200 for these types of screenings.
This free screening is open to anyone over 50, who has one or more of the following medical conditions:
- high blood pressure
- family history of heart disease
- previous heart or leg ailments
- prior stroke
The screening tests are painless and take about 30 minutes to complete.
Reservations are required and appointments are limited.
