Mercy Hospital Service Spotlight: Ambulatory Care Unit (ASU) and Day Procedure Unit (DPU)
January 5, 2012
Mercy Hospital of Buffalo associates in the Ambulatory Care Unit (ASU) and Day Procedure Unit (DPU) serve patients who come to the hospital from home for same-day surgery and/or scheduled surgeries. Their job is to get patients ready for surgery and then later care for patients who will be going home and do not require a hospital admission.
This tight-knit staff on the 6th floor recently participated in a number of activities, all driven by their compassionate Mercy spirit.
In October, they dressed in pink, baked pink cookies and cupcakes, and decorated in pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
In December, they adopted a military family for Christmas, raising and providing over $500 in gifts.
Participating in their Breast Cancer Awareness Day are ASU and DPU staff, from left: Carol Hammond, nurse manager; Sue Booker; Karen Marabella; Timberle Swaydis; Gloria Aloi; Sue Coppola; Marcia Trawinski; Katie Holtz, and Barb DiSarno.
