July 26, 2011

Parents of babies in the Sisters of Charity Hospital NICU are sleeping a little easier thanks to a generous donation from Metro Mattress.

The local mattress company donated two queen-sized mattresses and frames to the hospital as part of its "50 Beds in 50 Days" charitable giveaway. Sisters Hospital will use the beds in its NICU Family Sleep Rooms. Metro Mattress will be delivering the bed sets on July 27.

The two Sleep Rooms are located across from the NICU and are available to families who are getting ready to take their infant home. The overnight suites provide a relaxing environment for new parents to stay with their infants prior to being discharged. It is important for new parents to learn how to care for their new bundle of joy especially if they are going to be sent home on oxygen or have other special needs. The suites give the parents the opportunity to gain confidence and knowledge about caring for their new baby.

Sisters Hospital NICU is a level III neonatal intensive care unit specifically designed for ill or premature babies.

Our Special Care Nursery is designed to comfort our new born babies in an environment that minimizes light and sound. This supports healthy growth while providing space for the babies and their families. Our highly trained doctors and nurses have the skill and expertise to treat a variety of neonatal medical conditions, so you can be confident that your baby is receiving the most advanced care available by our caring and compassionate medical team.
