Have you resolved to make a difference in your community and help others? Consider giving back to the community by volunteering at Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
The hospital has a particular need in the following areas:
Volunteers help run errands throughout the hospital, including delivering samples to departments, picking up medical supplies, getting medical records, picking up pharmacy orders, delivering late lunch trays, and much more. This opportunity is weekdays during business hours and we are looking for substitutes until a permanent slot opens up.
Volunteers are needed to assist the nursing staff and aides with patients. They help pass food trays, add comfort care to patients, fill water pitchers and can learn to help feed patients.
Volunteers assist the nursing staff by feeding patients who are unable to feed themselves.
Volunteers assist pharmacy staff by counting medications, delivering to nursing units and running errands. There are openings at the present time on Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Friday 4 - 8 p.m.
Volunteers who offer communion to our patients. Openings are on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays.
Volunteers needed to scan reports into electronic medical record. This volunteer could serve any weekday from 8 am – 4 pm.
These “front line” volunteers are ambassadors of customer service. They answer telephones, give passes to visitors who are coming to see patients and deliver flowers to patient rooms. There volunteers serve seven days per week and there are openings on the weekend and evenings. In addition, with the addition of the new Emergency Department underway, there are openings our outpatient entrance desk. All shifts are needed in this area.
These volunteers work closely with our information desk volunteers and escort visitors to their destination in the hospital. Openings during the day on weekdays.
These volunteers offer coffee/tea/water to our visitors in waiting areas and on patient care units from 1:30 to 3 p.m. weekdays. There is an opening on Friday.
Located on International Drive in Williamsville, this Kenmore Mercy Hospital department is in need of volunteers who can help scan reports into the system and help with clerical duties. In addition, there is a need for escort volunteers to help patients get to the different locations in the building.
This volunteer would round to the patient care units and pick up/deliver used or sterilized equipment. Volunteers are needed anytime.
This volunteer would document and organize historical records and photos.
Volunteers are needed for weekends and evenings. The gift shop is run by Kenmore Mercy’s Auxiliary, the fundraising arm of volunteer services. They run the shop by helping with displays, act as cashier and help visitors and associates choose that special gift for a loved one.
Volunteers needed to help monitor patients waiting in the hallway to go into Rehab gym.
All volunteers receive special training, followed by ongoing guidance and support. Individuals interested in volunteering for Kenmore Mercy, should contact Lynn Overbeck, CAVS, Director of Volunteer Services by email or by phone at (716) 447-6188.
