Catholic Health LIFE Sponsors “Boot Camp for Successful Aging”
March 23, 2011
Catholic Health Living Independently for Elders (LIFE), presents a free, two-part community program entitled, “Boot Camp for Successful Aging," on April 9 and 16 from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the OLV Senior Neighborhood Community Room (55 Melroy Avenue, Lackawanna).
Guest speakers include eldercare specialist Beverly A. Kubala, RN, CCM, president of Geriatric Care Managers of WNY, and Laurie Menzies, ESQ, an attorney specializing in estate planning and elder law. The two sessions will cover a variety of topics including long term care options and financial planning to help participants develop a successful plan for aging.
Session 1: Basic Training - April 9, 2011
Participants will receive an overview of the information and documents necessary to put together a successful Power of Attorney (POA), Trust, Will, Health Care Proxy (HCP), Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order, and more. Learn about the various levels of care, how much they cost, and who will pay for them.
Session 2: Getting Personal - April 16, 2011
Participants will review their current information regarding health, financial and family situations to formulate their own plan for successful aging. During the discussion, participants will be asked to consider the following: how much money do you want to leave to your children...how much do you need to take care of yourself...does your current plan make sense?
Individuals and families are invited to attend. Reservations are required. Free parking is available and light refreshments will be served.
