A blessing ceremony was recently held for a newly-installed spiral CT (computed tomography) scanner at the Mercy Diagnostic and Treatment Center in West Seneca.

CT is a diagnostic procedure that uses special x-ray equipment to obtain cross-sectional pictures of the body. The CT computer system displays these pictures as detailed images of organs, bones, and other tissues. The state-of-the-art, 40-slice CT scanner is equipped with multi-detector technology for faster, higher quality images.

“Patient safety and comfort are top priorities,” said Nancy Rodrigues, specialty imaging manager. “For instance, all of our Siemens® CT scanners feature CareDose technology to minimize radiation exposure for our patients.”

“Our new CT scanner at the West Seneca site represents the latest technology available in the world,” noted Rodrigues.

Outpatient appointments are available Monday through Friday by calling (716) 828-2373.
