SleepCare at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus Receives National Program Re-Accreditation

SleepCare, the sleep center at Sisters of Charity Hospital, St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, has received re-accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) for its commitment to provide high quality patient care and testing services for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep related disorders.

“We are very proud of the of the sleep services we offer at St. Joseph Campus and the high caliber of our professional staff,” said Alexander Gelfer, M.D., medical director of SleepCare. “This recognition is a significant accomplishment for our hospital and an added assurance to our patients that the sleep services we provide are of the highest quality.”

To receive a five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process involves a detailed inspection of a center’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training. Additionally, the facility’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.
