Catholic Health Sponsors Free Program on Rheumatoid Arthritis
December 7, 2010
If you or someone you know suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), or if you would like to know more about this chronic condition, Catholic Health will be sponsoring a free community health education program, “Learn More About Rheumatoid Arthritis,” on Thursday, December 9 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Suite 8A at the AppleTree Business Park located at 2875 Union Road in Cheektowaga.
Michael Weingarten, MD, a rheumatology specialist, will present an overview of the disease, discussing symptoms, prevention strategies, diagnosis and treatment options, and living with RA.
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that leads to inflammation of the joints and surrounding tissue. It has also been linked to inflammation of the heart muscle and blood vessels, which can lead to stroke and heart disease. The causes of RA are unknown. It can occur at any age and affects more women than men.
The program is free and open to all. A light meal will be served.
Prior registration is required. Click here to register or call Catholic Health’s HealthConnection at (716) 706-2112.
