October 29, 2010

Each year, the Sisters of Charity Hospital Past Medical Staff Presidents Club honors one or two people from the community as the Man or Woman of the year. Candidates are chosen by the significant contributions they have made to Sisters Hospital throughout the year.

This year, the Past Medical Staff Presidents are honoring Peter U. Bergmann, President & CEO of Sisters Hospital and Dr. Brian D’Arcy, Catholic Health Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs. Peter and Brian were chosen for their support and efforts during the merger of Sisters Hospital and St. Joseph Campus.

“Their strong leadership during the merger of the two hospitals made the transition from two medical staffs to one extremely smooth,” says Dr. Greg Castiglia, current president of the group. “Since establishing one medical staff between the two campuses, it has improved the overall quality of care, standardization of policies and procedures by physicians.”

The physicians know the success of the merger couldn’t have happened without the additional support of the Sisters Hospital and Catholic Health Leadership Team. Peter and Brian will be presented with the award during a special ceremony in April 2011.

The Past Medical Staff Presidents Club is comprised of 45 physicians from both campuses. The club was established in 1980 to form a better working relationship between physicians, hospital leadership and board.

A total 23 people have been given the person of the year award since the club’s inception.
