Kenmore Mercy Hospital physicians Michael Landi, MD, FACS, and Jeffrey Meilman, MD, FACS, were recently honored with the prestigious Sister Mary Mechtilde Memorial Award, at the Kenmore Mercy Foundation’s Tribute to Angels, held on November 19.
Board members, hospital associates and others enjoyed an evening of fine wine, cuisine, silent and live auctions and fellowship as they paid tribute to these dedicated individuals at the annual fundraiser held at Buffalo/Niagara Marriott Hotel.
This prestigious award, established in 1980 by the Kenmore Mercy Foundation, recognizes outstanding individuals who have demonstrated a dedication to community service, visionary leadership and the ideals of unselfish service towards others. These qualities were exemplified by Sister Mary Mechtilde O'Connor, RSM, foundress and first administrator of Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
Dr. Landi is CEO of Brain and Spine Medical Services, PLLC, Chief of Neurological Surgery at Kenmore Mercy Hospital and the Vice President of the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees. He has been a key leadership figure and long time financial supporter of the Kenmore Mercy Foundation and has involved the Brain and Spine Center in sponsoring numerous events such as A Tribute to Angels and The Bob A. Saldanha Memorial Golf & Wine Event.
Dr. Meilman, a plastic surgeon at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, is internationally recognized and respected for his many innovative and charitable surgeries. His Hope For Tomorrow Foundation, a charitable organization which has enabled many American and foreign patients to receive needed plastic surgery.
In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Katherine Koessler Juhasz and a special Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Marty Winnert (posthumously).
Koessler Juhasz serves as President of the Kenneth L. and Katherine G. Koessler Family Foundation and is an invaluable member of the Kenmore Mercy Foundation Board of Trustees.
Winnert, served as president of Parkland Professional Park Corp. and was a proud member of the Board of Trustees for Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Kenmore Mercy Foundation.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was created to honor an individual who has been active and supportive of the Foundation, for many years. The presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award is a fitting tribute to individuals whose years of unwavering spirit and determination have benefited our hospital and our community.
The Kenmore Mercy Foundation raises money through special events and annual fund campaigns to provide Kenmore Mercy Hospital and its associates with programs such as Staff Education Grants, Department Mini-Grants, as well as Capital Equipment Grants.
