Kenmore Mercy Hospital Imaging Department Receives Accreditation

June 24, 2010

Kenmore Mercy Hospital, a member of Catholic Health, was recently awarded a three-year accreditation for its computed tomography (CT) scanning by the American College of Radiology (ACR). ACR accreditation recognizes that the hospital’s CT scanning service has undergone a rigorous review process and meets nationally accepted standards of care.

Kenmore Mercy Hospital, a New York State Designated Stroke Center, performs all types of CT scans, a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. This includes brain perfusion scans useful for strokes, clogged carotid arteries, and some brain tumors; specialized and routine imaging techniques for musculoskeletal and neuroradiology; and CT angiography. The imaging team performs scans with a 64-slice CT scanner, which allows for fast, high quality imaging.

The ACR accreditation process also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. All findings are reported to the practice via a comprehensive report that includes recommendations for improvement.

“Receiving ACR accreditation demonstrates our commitment to provide high quality, patient-centered CT scanning services,” said David Vinti, site manager, Imaging Services at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. "This designation also provides further assurance and peace of mind for our patients that our imaging services are among the best available.”
