Two Physicians Receive Appointments to Kenmore Mercy’s Cancer Program
January 20, 2010
Andrew Soh, MD, FACS and Won Yi, MD, have been named to three-year terms on the Cancer Program Committee at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Dr. Soh was appointed committee chair, and Dr. Yi was appointed cancer liaison physician (CLP) of the program.
In these leadership roles, Drs. Soh and Yi will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support Kenmore Mercy’s cancer program. They will spearhead the program’s efforts to achieve accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Only one in four hospitals that treat cancer patients receives this special approval, which recognizes extraordinary community cancer care.

In addition, they will oversee collaborations with local agencies, such as the American Cancer Society (ACS); and monitor quality improvement initiatives utilizing data submitted to the Commission on Cancer's National Cancer Database. Both physicians will serve a minimum three-year term, with the option to serve additional terms.
As a member of Catholic Health, Kenmore Mercy has played an integral role in cancer treatment in the local community for many years. With cancer being the second leading cause of death in Western New York, Kenmore Mercy has developed a coordinated and comprehensive cancer program that continues to deliver high quality care and service to meet the needs of area cancer patients.
