Walter Ludwig Appointed to the Position of Chief Operating Officer

Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Catholic Health are pleased to announce the appointment of Walter Ludwig to the position of Chief Operating Officer, effective November 9.
As Chief Operating Officer, Walt will be responsible for working with our staff and physicians to focus on operational efficiencies, quality metrics and financial performance throughout the organization.
He joins us with a significant amount of healthcare experience, most notably serving as the President of DeGraff Hospital from 2000 - 2002 and the President of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital from 2002 - 2005. He has more recently served as a Vice President for the Western New York Purchasing Alliance and as a faculty member at the University of Buffalo where he taught a graduate course in Healthcare Economics.
In recent years, Walt was instrumental in the design of a $65 million expansion of a hospital campus, the recruitment of various specialists and primary care physicians, and the significant reduction of emergency department diversions. At the Purchasing Alliance, he focused on the development of programs to reduce costs or improve the efficiency of services at area hospitals.
Walt attended the State University of New York at Buffalo, earning a Master of Business Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Science from the School of Pharmacy. He has also completed programs in both project management and team performance and received a Certificate in Business Management from Cornell University, School of Labor Relations.
