St. Joseph Campus Associates Share a Thanksgiving Feast with Local Families
November 24, 2009
The true spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday was alive and well at St. Joseph Campus in Cheektowaga, as associates and staff gathered in the lobby on Tuesday, November 24 at noon to bless and distribute Thanksgiving food baskets that have been prepared to help needy families throughout the local community.
“This has become a Thanksgiving tradition at St. Joseph Hospital,” said Paula Moscato, Vice President of Mission Integration for the Catholic Health hospital and organizer of the event. “Associates at St. Joseph Campus have been putting together food baskets for over 12 years, and I am touched by the generosity of our associates, physicians and all those who step forward to help.”
Various hospital departments donate all the trimmings and carefully put together the individual baskets, while the hospital’s medical staff, foundation board and Associate Relations Committee contribute funds to buy a turkey for each family.
“St. Joseph Campus is known throughout the community for providing high quality medical care, but our associates do so much more to support our friends and neighbors,” Ms. Moscato continued. “Our mission, to serve those who are poor and disadvantaged, is one of the reasons projects like this are so important.”
Approximately 50 baskets, which include a complete Thanksgiving meal – from stuffing, sweet potatoes and corn to cranberry sauce and pumpkin pies – will be distributed by local parishes. “What better time of the year to give thanks for all our blessings and help those who may not be as fortunate,” Ms. Moscato added.
