August 20, 2009
The Imaging Department at St. Joseph Campus will be unveiling a new state-of-the-art CT Scanner to improve x-ray capabilities at the Cheektowaga location of Sisters of Charity Hospital.
CT scanner technology is an enhanced version of a traditional X-ray machine, emitting many X-ray beams simultaneously at various angles to make detailed images of structure inside the body.
The new CT scanner at St. Joseph Campus is a Siemens Sensation 40-slice, which outperforms the previous 16-slice version. This will allow physicians to observe more detailed x-ray images to better diagnose a variety of illnesses and injuries.
Hospital Chaplain, Rev. Dale Stanley, will be offering the blessing of the new state of the art machine on Friday, August 21 at noon.
