Kenmore Mercy’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Receives National Certification

Kenmore Mercy Hospital is proud to announce the recertification of its Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). The three-year certification recognizes programs rigorously reviewed by the national board who meet the AACVPR requirements for standards of care.

“This certification tells our pulmonary rehabilitation clients that when they choose Kenmore Mercy Hospital, they are choosing a facility known for exceptional patient care,” said Carolyn Hilbert, RT, RRT-NPS, Kenmore Mercy’s Director of Pulmonary Services.

Kenmore Mercy’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is designed for people with chronic lung diseases like emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Through prevention, structured exercise, patient teaching and disease management, the program helps participants to reduce disability from pulmonary diseases.

The AACVPR certification committee reviews each hospital program for completeness and adherence to nationally recognized standards of care, including staff competencies, written policies/procedures, physician referrals, exercise prescriptions, emergency procedures, outcome assessment/program evaluations, individualized care plans and feedback to physicians.

The AACVPR is a national, multidisciplinary association dedicated to the improvement of clinical practice, promotion of scientific inquiry, and advancement of education for the benefit of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation professionals and the patients they serve.

A physician referral is required for Kenmore Mercy’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program.
