Kenmore Mercy Makes the Holidays Brighter

Kenmore Mercy Hospital staff live Catholic Health’s mission to “reveal the healing love of Jesus to those in need” every day of the year. However, at no time is our mission more evident than during the winter holiday season. Through their Mission Integration Committees, associates, volunteers, and physicians sponsor a variety of holiday giving programs to help patients, fellow staff, and those less fortunate throughout our community.

“With the downturn in the economy, many families in Western New York struggle to be able to celebrate during the holiday season,” said Sister Ellen McClure, Vice President of Mission Integration for Kenmore Mercy. “Thankfully, through the combined efforts of our staff, we are able to share the true spirit of giving with those who need it most.”

Kenmore Mercy’s scheduled holiday events are as follows:

• Tuesday, November 24 at 11 a.m. – Kenmore Mercy staff will gather in the hospital atrium for a special blessing of the Thanksgiving Food Baskets, which will be distributed to those in need throughout the local community to ensure that area families are able to sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving meal and give thanks for the generosity of others.
   
• Monday, November 30 at noon – The annual “Angel Tree” Lighting Ceremony will take place in the hospital atrium. The festive tree includes dozens of angel ornaments donated by hospital patients and staff.
   
• Monday, December 14 at 1 p.m. – The Kenmore East Select Choir will perform a special holiday concert beginning in the hospital atrium and continuing throughout the hospital.

“Through the generosity of our staff, we are making a difference in our community and helping to make the holidays a little brighter for our friends and neighbors,” added Sister Ellen.
