John Herman has recently been appointed the Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. Previously, Herman served as the Chief Operating Officer of Kenmore Mercy Hospital. In his 13-year tenure with Catholic Health, he has held a variety of leadership positions, including Vice President of Operations at Kenmore Mercy Hospital; System Director of Health, Safety, Security and Environment for Catholic Health; and System Director of Safety at Kenmore Mercy and Mercy Hospitals from 1996 to 1999.
In recent years, Herman was instrumental in more than $9 million in capital projects at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, including the expansion of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, the development of a new Interventional Radiology Suite and the recent opening of the Williamsville Diagnostic Center. He also helped position the hospital as a HealthGrades Center of Excellence in Joint Replacement Surgery, 2007-2009.
A Buffalo Business First “Forty Under 40” Award recipient and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Herman holds an Executive M.B.A. with Distinction from the State University of New York at Buffalo. As a volunteer, Herman serves as the Junior Leader and adult member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and the Committee Chair and Den leader for Cub Scout Pack 440.
Herman and his family reside in Williamsville, NY.
