A leading independent healthcare consulting firm has recognized Catholic Health hospitals for being among the best in the nation for value, efficiency and quality.

All Catholic Health hospitals received the Community Value Index® (CVI) Five-Star Hospital Award by Cleverley + Associates of Columbus, Ohio, a leading healthcare financial consulting firm specializing in operational benchmarking and performance enhancement. Catholic Health facilities recognized include:

Cleverly Five-Star Hospital Award
Cleverly Top 100 Hospital Award

The Five Star rating places Catholic Health hospitals in the top 20 percent of Cleverley’s annual nationwide evaluation of 2,643 hospitals in four key areas of performance including: financial stability, cost structure, charge structure and quality performance.

“This national recognition for each of our hospitals is one more indication that Catholic Health is moving towards becoming one of the top performing health systems in the country,” said Joseph D. McDonald, President and CEO of Catholic Health. “Making sure we deliver high quality and affordable care in a patient-centered environment is our top priority.”

An additional recognition went to Sisters of Charity Hospital, which placed in the top 100 of the 536 Five Star hospitals, earning Cleverley’s Top 100 designation. The findings were reported in Cleverley’s recently released publication: State of the Hospital Industry (2009 Edition).

“In these tough economic times, value has become an increasingly important factor in hospital performance,” McDonald continued. “Patients and business leaders should expect both high quality and cost effective care in their hospitals. We are pleased to be able to deliver both. Congratulations to our associates, physicians and the leadership of our hospitals for earning this important recognition.”
