On September 18 at St. Francis of Williamsville, judging took place for the “Memories in the Making” Art Reception and Auction sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY. More than 200 original pieces of artwork have been submitted for judging for this year’s show, which will be held at The Church at Ashbury Hall on February 20, 2009. Memories in the Making is for individuals in early or middle stages of Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. Through their art, participants are able to express with drawing, painting and color what they may not be able to express with words. Pat Thomas, the 113 year-old “Super Centenarian” who resides at St. Francis Home of Williamsville, had several watercolor paintings submitted for judging.

Judges for the annual event included Chris Phillips, owner of Pecis Pizza and Alzheimer’s Association Board Member; Kevin McCue from Catholic Health; and Jenieve Farraro from the University of Buffalo.
